Adult & Travel Immunisations
We recommend that all adults have effective tetanus, diphtheria and polio immunisation. Please note, we no longer provide travel vaccinations or advice.  This service is now provide by the Craignair Health Centre in Dalbeattie *. There are also an additional three other vaccination centres (list of vaccination centres is on the nhsdg.co.uk/travelwebsite) if it is more convenient for you.  If you plan on going abroad, it is your duty to make sure you have the correct vaccinations before
leaving the country.

To check if you need any Travel Vaccines for where you plan to visit, go to: www.fitfortravel.scot.nhs.uk/destinations. If you then find you require travel vaccinations please fill out the attached form and hand it in at reception. You do not have to be registered with this practice to receive this service.

*This Service is NOT covered by the NHS and therefore charges will apply.

If you require foreign travel vaccinations, please call in to the Health Centre and pick up a pre-travel risk assessment form or (use the link below). Please state on it all countries including in-transit ones to determine what vaccinations are required.

It is important to contact the Health Centre as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you intend to travel. This is because these vaccines have to be ordered as they are not stock items. Once the doctor has decided which vaccines you require, they will be ordered on prescription to be collected from the Well Pharmacy on Dalbeattie High Street. You will then be contacted to make an appointment with the practice nurse to administer the vaccines.

It is YOUR responsibility to pick up YOUR vaccines from the pharmacy before your appointment and keep them in a fridge if it says so on the packet.

Please note that some medication(s) required for travel immunisations will be issued on a private prescription and will incur a fee payable at the pharmacy. This is because travel vaccination is not included in the services provided by the NHS and is therefore a chargeable service. There is a charge of £15.00 for advice regarding malaria prophylaxis, payable to the
Health Centre at the time of your vaccination appointment.

Dalbeattie Medical Practice is a Licensed Yellow Fever Centre. The cost of a yellow fever vaccination together with the vaccination certificate is £55.00.
